It is 64 and the sun is trying to peak out with calm winds. Today is our last day here and we are not looking forward to leaving our new found comfort zone.
Lori already left for her massage with the Thai Ninja from a couple days ago. I have donned my Medium robe and slippers and am going to make my embarrassing walk to the spa. The robe barely closes in the front and the rope to tie it barely reaches around my midsection. Maybe I should take notice of that. I have seen many people walking around in these robes but it still seems odd to me. I think if I keep my hands folded and holding the robe closed there shouldn’t be any accidental flashes. I decided that I am going to go with the upgraded Thai Massage. Fingers crossed.
I walked into the spa ready to go. There were no wardrobe malfunctions on the way so mission accomplished. I checked in at the desk and asked the girl what her opinion was of the Tai Massage? She said that it was her favorite and she highly recommended it. She said that it involves stretching, deep tissue and neck massage. She continued to ramble about chi and some other spa language that kind of put me into a stare. I just shook my head in agreement, grabbed a towel and had a seat. Being a spa veteran now I tucked my towel in my crotch so that there was no free peepshow. Lori and the masseuse came down the hallway and Lori looked completely happy. I told the lady that I switched to the Thai Massage which she was ok with.
She led me to Thai Massage room and handed me my loin cloth baggie. I was past the initial shock and knew how to don it. She was brief with her directions this time like she was mentally preparing for the bout ahead. I quickly slipped into my lingerie and got on the table and waited for her to enter.
She came in and attempted to communicate something in broken English. I had no idea what she was saying so I just told her that I had a sore right shoulder. I think she did a hand spring and landed right on my buttocks. She perched there like a squirrel sitting on a fence post. She began telling me something about my shoulder as she comfortably rested. She was not very heavy so I didn’t say anything. She then started the commando crawl up and down my back as she did a couple days ago. There were times that I thought there were more than one person back there. I would like to see a video of what is happening as I can only picture a gymnastics practice.
She was obviously more comfortable with me as I felt a constant draft back there. The towel was the only humility that I had left and I knew it was not where it should be. At this point I had given in. This woman interwove herself with my legs and arms to the point that I wondered how I was going to get out of this. She continued to lift me and contort me stretching me in every direction. I’m not a flexible person and didn’t realize that I could bend in those ways. After about an hour I was feeling pretty relaxed. She had me sit up so I figured it was over but there was no bell. Then she grabbed my arms and pulled them back behind me and walked up and down my back. Next came the double chicken wing, I am glad that I never came across her in a wrestling meet because she had skills! Finally she kneaded my neck like she was making bread. It is hard to relax when someone has control of your head and could quad you out. She ended with karate chops across my back. This was a completely different experience than before but I can’t wait to find this Tai Massage again. After the massage I went to the unisex sauna.
By the time I was done it was sunny and warm outside. A nice day to finish up our stay in our suite and order room service. It was actually better than down at the bar. We took the time to plan out our next week with car rentals, locations and places to stay. It looks like we are going to spend a few days in the heel of Italy then head to Sicily.
No beautiful sunset tonight so Lori is taking advantage of the bathtub with a view. I’m content sitting with a glass of wine watching the bats tear around after the bugs. They are doing a great job keeping them away from us.
