Day 37 (Sun Garden Hotel)

Today is 67 and mostly sunny. I think we are planning another day of nothing. I may catch up on some work or do some studying for my pilots license. I received my medical approval from the FAA the week before we left so I am looking forward to getting back in the pilots seat.

While enjoying our view we received a call from the front desk. Mia, the hospitality supervisor was on the phone. Lori had a really happy and eager look on her face so I knew it was something good. Apparently there was going to be a party in the bar a few floors below us and they wanted to offer to move us. Lori asked if the view was as good as the one that we have now? Mia responded, “better, it is the executive suite”. She told Lori that they would move us to the 5th floor room 513. Apparently Mia thought that we were only here for the night until Lori told her that we had extended our stay until Saturday. Mia said, “let me see if it is available and I will call you back”. Within a few minutes we were upgraded for the rest of the week. We tried to imagine what could be better than the room we have now. I said the corner room would be nice. We packed back up and called for the bell hop to come to the room. He arrived within a few minutes. The bell hop told us that the new room does not have a number but will have the name Bokar instead. We anxiously headed for the 5th floor. We walked in to find a massive apartment with a meeting room with 6 chairs and a table, a living room, 1.5 baths, large bedroom with separate closet space, and a main bathroom with a large tub with a view. Then we walked out on to the balcony. It wraps around the building with a full glass railing. You could have a really nice sized party on this balcony! Plus, she invited us to the party that was being put on by one of the conferences in the building. Party starts at 11pm and goes to 2 am.

After unpacking and familiarizing ourselves with the place, we opened a bottle of wine to celebrate our new found status. We sat and watched the sunset and enjoyed the after sunset orange and red skies. Afterwards we went to dinner. There are about 5 different restaurants on this property and so far 2 of them were not good, so we headed for the bar in our building to see what they had to offer. We had Chicken Caesar Salads which was better than the previous 2 nights.

The bartender was named Doria and was 20 years old. She has been bartending since she was 15. She was a cute very straight forward individual. She had very entertaining opinions and was definitely seasoned in her field for 20 year old. We had a really nice time talking with her. Then Mia showed up to make sure that everything was ready for the party. This was the first time that we met her in person. She joined the conversation and we talked with her for probably an hour. Lori asked her lots of healthcare and lifestyle questions which was pretty interesting and a lot different from the US.

Since the salad didn’t quite fill the void, I ordered a pizza. It is about the only food on this resort property that is good. I nearly scarfed down the entire pizza when Lori asked where her piece was? I was guilted into sacrificing a small piece of what was left. I must have missed the fact that she was still hungry.

We returned to the Executive Suite around 9:30pm and initially decided not to attend the party. We were watching the show “House” and realized it was now 11pm and we were still awake. We got dressed and headed down to the party. We walked in and immediately felt out of place. Lori had one drink which seemed to potentiate the previous drinks at dinner. We headed back up to the room to rejoin our “House” show.
