Our check out time from the Spa apartment was at 10am but Lori was able to work in the Sauna and Hot Tub anyway. Our plans for today are to drive to Trogir and walk around then travel to Split. It is 67 and sunny with very light wind. It should be a nice drive along the coast to Trogir.
After a beautiful drive down the coast viewing the calm Adriatic and the many “cute” towns along the way we arrived at the “super cute” town of Trogir. Anytime I hear the word “cute” I can expect a longer than planned visit. This town is really nice and a must visit. The city is on flat ground so no steps and it is on a water way with yachts and small island hopping cruise ships. This city is a lot like the others with similar shops and small restaurants and cafes. This was also a GOT filming spot. I think I recognized some of the spots but I think I will have to watch the series again to be sure.
At about noon we decided to grab some lunch and look at the yachts. This was a perfect time to plan the next couple days. We decided to stay here in Trogir and then take a ferry from Split tomorrow to the island of Hvar. Lori found a really nice 5 star place to stay Friday and Saturday night. I scheduled the car ferry for 2:30pm which is about a 2hr boat ride costs about $50 Euro. Hvar is supposed to be super duper “cute” so we are looking forward to this side trip. Now Lori had to find a place here in Trogir where she found one right in the middle of old town. Sounds like another job for Pack Mule Inc!
We already had a good parking spot but found out that it was $4 euro/hr. So I walked the luggage into the city, down the cobblestone paths to the hotel and went back to the car to find a cheaper spot across the river. This was a perfect time for Lori to ditch me for some shopping. The city is not very big but with my “Find my” app I was able to catch up with her easily. How did we do it before?
The hotel is several hundred years old with kind of a weird setup. It reminds me of when Marc Legris and I were on a motorcycle trip and the bathroom was open to the bedroom. It will do for one night but I can tell that we are getting spoiled Lori is great at finding great deals in really nice places. We really like staying in these cities because they are so unique so our expectations have to be much lower when we stay in one.
Lori was done shopping and I was getting hungry so we found a wine bar that also served food. I was craving fries so we split an order. The fries are so good over here. We have not been able to figure out why but every place we go has delicious fries! I am also liking this ketchup and mayo combination with the fries. We ordered a couple glasses of wine and discussed what to do next. The fries didn’t seem to cut it for me so I scarfed a burger and more fries. For some reason, I just couldn’t fill that void.
We walked out to where the island hopping boats were and found a nice cafe that also served wine. The scenery along this promenade is really nice and relaxing. Chaston called us so we sat and talked to him for a while. Lori enjoyed her Campari Spritz while I wished I was on one of those yachts with yes, another glass of wine.
After dark we headed back to the room. Lori walked in and her nasal sense went on overload. She kept smelling vomit or something similar. All I could smell was air freshener. She continued raging to the point that I thought we might switch rooms. I always carry Vicks with me for these types of emergencies. She gave it a try and was able to go to sleep. I could not figure out for the life of me what she was referring to. Hopefully she will be able to sleep, I know I will.
