Today we headed to the location where they prosecuted the Nazis. First let me say that I am typing this while we are in the Fitness Area. Clothes are optional and both sexes share the same sauna. Lori is a wreck. I told her “when in Rome”! Of course there is a guy down here sitting Indian style in the sauna where Lori entered.
We (Lori) slept in again this morning. We are still adapting. We finally figured out the transit system and bought some cheap day passes for around town. First stop was where they held the Nuremberg Nazi trials. Super interesting but a lot of information. We did an audible walking tour and then figured out at the end that we could have just downloaded the same tour on our phones. So if you plan on visiting here, save the money and use your phone. There were 21 Nazis that were tried here by England, France, America and Russia. We were allowed into the actual court room where the trial was held. It is not a working court room anymore.
We thought about visiting the Nazi Rally Grounds but most of it is currently under construction. Hopefully they are not expecting another Rally? We decided to visit the castle in old town instead. Oh my god! The naked guy just walked past me! WTF IS HAPPENING! Anyway, the castle was at the top of the highest hill in town. It wasn’t as bad as walking out of the Grand Canyon but it was close. We finally reached the top to find 4 Ambulances. Obviously waiting for customers. The castle was very impressive and was built by the Roman’s when they ruled this area. It is amazing what structures are still standing after 100’s of years. It had a deep mote and everything straight out of Game of Thrones.
After that we walked back to the village (old town) and shopped. We stopped at an Indian Restaurant for walking break and drink. Indian wine is really good! After that we walked some more, I swear it was up hill everywhere we went. So many hills! We settled at an Irish Bar for some fish and chips and a few glasses of whiskey. Red Breast 12 year was awesome and a lot like Woodford Double Oak. We had a nice conversation with a German guy who used to live in East Berlin (Russian controlled side). He was the one that recommended the whiskey.
After that we walked through the subway because they are the size of a mall with lots of food options including treats.
We called it early because we have to catch a 9am train to Dachau Concentration Camp tomorrow.
